Annabelle attempts to snatch it back, because she was still reading it!! And it's her only bastion of distraction from dying of a lady boner. Her hands grasping the book across the table, ale glass (thankfully empty) knocked over, Annabelle awkwardly half hovers over the table, since Lauren's pulled the book back.

"I need this book to live. If you take it from me, I'm going to die. Do you want to kill me, Lauren?"
